Anthony J. Ryder
Anthony J (Tony) Ryder joined Ted Seth Jacobs' evening life painting class on January 17th, 1983 at the Art Students League of New York. He studied with Ted from 1983 to 1989 in New York City and in France at Ted's school, the Ecole Albert Defois. Tony began his teaching career in 1985 when Ted asked him to substitute teach his life drawing class. His instructional style combines abundant class demonstrations with careful, personal attention to each student. He is supportive, encouraging and generous with information. He loves to draw and paint, and to explain the processes of drawing and painting to his students. His book The Artist's Complete Guide to Figure Drawing, published by Watson-Guptill, was released in 2000. In 2007 he opened his school, The Ryder Studio. He and his wife Celeste live in Santa Fe, NM. His work can be viewed online at: www.tonyryder.com.

Tony specializes in teaching "Poster Study," "Life Drawing," "Portrait Painting and Drawing," and "Figure and Still Life Painting."
He teaches these subjects in workshops, and as part of the 24-week long Ryder Studio Atelier.
